There was a time in NFL Draft history when Travis and a teary-eyed Jason Kelce could have played together on the Kansas City Chiefs

Travis Kelce could spend his entire career with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Travis’ older brother, Jason, recently retired from the NFL as a fan favorite after spending his 13 professional seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.

With the NFL Draft returning, college players will soon be bouncing around the country joining their new professional teams.

But the draft is filled with what-if moments every year, as critical decisions — often made at the last second — affect players, coaches and teams for decades to come.

In 2017, Patrick Mahomes could have been drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals at No. 9.

Instead, Cincy chose receiver John Ross — who quickly became a first-round bust — while Mahomes went to the Chiefs one pick later and now owns three Super Bowl trophies.

In 2011, Jason was a young offensive lineman fresh out of the University of Cincinnati.

And a major faking moment occurred in NFL history.

Two teams showed the most pre-draft interest in Jason

“I knew I was a Day 3 guy,” he recently told NFL Network.

There was almost a world where the inseparable Kelce brothers were even closer.

After six long rounds and 190 picks, Jason had played enough with his family and was still waiting to be picked before the end of the seventh round.

“Round four passes. Round five passes,” Jason said. “At this point, we’re done bowling.”

He was ultimately called up by Philly at 191st overall and never left the Eagles franchise until retiring at age 36.

“My dad has tears in his eyes,” Jason said, remembering the emotional moment of his selection on the final day.

But another team also kept tabs on Travis’ big brother as the rounds piled up and the final pick approached.

“I had two teams that were really interested,” Jason said. “Kansas City and the Philadelphia Eagles.”

The Chiefs held the No. 199 pick in 2011.

If the Eagles had passed on Jason at 190, Kansas City could have taken him — and ultimately reunited the Kelce brothers in the NFL two years later, when Travis became the Chiefs’ No. 63 overall pick.

The first round of the 2024 draft will take place Thursday in Detroit.

This year’s class is loaded with top-tier quarterbacks, including Drake Maye, JJ McCarthy and Jayden Daniels.

Caleb Williams is expected to be the Chicago Bears’ No. 1 pick and has been compared to Patrick Mahomes.

“This is the biggest moment of my life…besides the birth of my children,” Jason said. “It’s the realization that you’re about to play in the NFL.”
