‘Shameless’ Arsenal fans slammed for singing ‘Liverpool song’ during Bayern Munich clash

talkSPORT’s Jason Cundy has branded Arsenal fans “shameless” by suggesting they stole a Liverpool song during their Champions League clash.

Arsenal travel to the Allianz Arena next Wednesday with an even score in their Champions League match against Bayern Munich after an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium.

However, Mikel Arteta may believe it was a missed opportunity, with Bayern fans not allowed into Arsenal’s stadium despite the 60,000-yard pitch being packed with Gooners.

They created a good atmosphere, but one moment got under Cundy’s skin after the Arsenal fans started chanting ‘Allez, Allez, Allez’ in the second half.

When asked by Jamie O’Hara on talkSPORT what he thought of the atmosphere, Cundy replied: “Can I ask the Arsenal fans? Are they chanting ‘Allez, Allez, Allez’?

“Liverpool’s song in the Champions League? It’s shameless! They have no shame!

“Liverpool won the Champions League and they sign a Liverpool song? I mean, come on, Gooners. You have to have your own song.

“Come on, Come on, Come on? Halfway through the match? And you’re not even in the lead at this point!

“And you’re singing a Liverpool song when they won the Champions League! Shameless. They’re shameless.”

Although the original chant dates back many years, Liverpool fans popularized it during the 2018 Champions League final in kyiv.

The Reds lost the final to Real Madrid, but the chant remained, continually sung by Liverpool fans throughout their jaunts across Europe.

It became their anthem for the following season’s Champions League, where they went all the way, beating Tottenham in the final.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have never won the Champions League, although they reached the final in 2006 where they lost to Barcelona.

This season, some Gunners fans might believe they have a chance of finally lifting the trophy amid a brilliant campaign where they currently sit top of the Premier League.

Their first leg against Bayern ended 2-2 with Bukayo Saka scoring the opener only for two former north Londoners, Serge Gnabry and Harry Kane, to give the visitors the lead.

Leandro Trossard equalized late after coming off the bench, but there was controversy when Saka thought he had been fouled in the box in the fifth minute of added time by Manuel Neuer.
