Joel Cauchi’s double life as a male escort is revealed – as new details emerge about Bondi Junction Westfield attack

Bondi Junction Westfield killer Joel Cauchi had profiles on various escort websites, where he offered services to both men and women.

Cauchi, 40, was shot and killed after fatally stabbing six people and injuring a dozen others, including a 9-month-old baby, in the eastern Sydney shopping center on Saturday afternoon.

He was schizophrenic and police believe the horrific attack was linked to mental health issues.

His distraught family reportedly frantically contacted police, fearing their son was involved in yesterday’s Bondi attack, News Corp Australia reports.

Now, new details are beginning to emerge about Cauchi’s life and movements leading up to the devastating mass murder.

Cauchi, who is originally from Queensland but moved to Sydney in recent months, has listed himself on several male escort websites including Australia Cracker, Empire Escorts and Escorts Australia.

All websites allow users to upload their own photos and solicit their own sexual services.

Bondi Junction Westfield killer Joel Cauchi had profiles on various escort websites, where he offered services to both men and women.

In his biography, Cauchi describes himself as a “handsome, athletic 39-year-old” based in Sydney who was looking for a “fun time”.

He has proposed dozens of “closed-door services” that are too explicit to publish.

The profiles, created around June 2023, were visible on the websites on Sunday morning, but were later deleted.

The revelation comes as new footage surfaced showing Cauchi purchasing his final meal – a chicken red curry – at Saigon Noodle in Bondi Junction at around 12.22pm on Saturday – just three hours before his stabbing rampage.

Footage obtained by The Australian shows Cauchi handing money to a cashier as she gives him a table number, before he walks away and sits in the restaurant.

Queensland health authorities also revealed that Cauchi was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2000, the year he graduated from Harristown State High School.

Speaking to media shortly after 1pm on Sunday, Commissioner Roger Lowe of Queensland Police’s Security and Counter Terrorism Command said officers had been with the family since last night, breaking the news and collecting information for their investigation.

“As the family have cooperated with the Queensland Police Service in this regard, we are issuing a statement on their behalf regarding their own condolences and thoughts to the family and friends of the victims involved in this tragedy,” he said . .

“Similarly, they sent a message to NSW Police regarding their support for the officer who killed their son and expressing concerns for his welfare.”

Police were called to Bondi Junction Westfield at 3.20pm on Saturday as a horrific series of knife attacks unfolded at the busy shopping center on the first day of the school holidays.

Footage posted online showed terrified shoppers running through the center and taking refuge in stores as Cauchi chased men, women and children while brandishing the blade.

Detective Amy Scott was patrolling nearby and was first on scene. She entered the shopping center alone and bravely ran towards the attacker, before shooting him dead when he lunged at her with the knife.

Five other people – including four women apparently aged between 20 and 55 and a man in his thirties – who were in the center died instantly. They have not yet been formally identified.

Twelve other people – including nine women, two men and a 9-month-old child – suffered stab wounds, were treated by paramedics and transported to various hospitals in Sydney.

The 9-month-old’s mother, 38-year-old osteopath Ashlee Good, was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Her baby daughter underwent emergency surgery last night at Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick and is now in a serious but stable condition.

Dawn Singleton, the 25-year-old daughter of multimillionaire advertising guru John Singleton, was identified as the second person killed in the attack.

Deputy Commissioner Cooke said several other people injured in the attack had left Westfield and subsequently presented themselves at medical centres.

Inspector Scott was hailed as a hero for her actions, with many Australians coming together online to praise her incredible courage.

Deputy Commissioner Cooke said he spoke to her last night and she was “doing well”.

“Can I just say how proud we are of the actions of the officer involved,” he said.

“She’s getting all the support she needs.”

The mall and surrounding streets remain closed Sunday as police continue to scour the crime scene for forensic evidence.

Police launched a critical incident team of homicide detectives and established Strike Force Mcauley to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

The investigation will also be subject to an independent review.

As the investigation continues, any witnesses, anyone with information or mobile phone vision who has not yet spoken to police is urged to call police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 .
