Jamie Carragher insists Mohamed Salah isn’t the only Liverpool star with a questionable future

Jamie Carragher says Mohamed Salah is “in turmoil” and has raised major doubts over his Liverpool future.

Salah was unable to help the Reds overturn a two-goal deficit in Wednesday’s Merseyside derby defeat at Everton – their first at Goodison Park since 2010.

The defeat put a huge damper on Liverpool’s title fight, which could see them slip to third in the table if Manchester City beat Brighton on Thursday night.

Salah has often proven to be Liverpool’s savior, but the Egyptian has failed to score in his last three league matches.

Liverpool lost two of those matches, having missed numerous chances against Crystal Palace and the Toffees.

Salah was the subject of a bid from Saudi Arabia last summer and, although Liverpool retain their talisman, the impending departure of Jurgen Klopp could also see the Egyptian star seek pastures new.

Anfield legend Carragher insists questions will be asked about Salah’s future at the club, with just 14 months left on his current deal and links with Saudi Arabia persisting.

But the pundit also highlighted a lack of clinical finishing among Liverpool’s front three, with Darwin Nunez criticized after another pointless performance against Everton.

“Mo Salah is Liverpool’s goalscorer and he’s on fire,” Carragher told Sky Sports after the 2-0 defeat at Goodison. “I think it shed a little more light on others.

“What we’ve seen here in terms of (Luis) Diaz, (Dawin) Nunez and Salah, we would rate him in Liverpool’s top three, but the others (Diaz and Nunez) are not as cynical as what we have Seen here.

“I think there is a real discussion with the new manager about what the future holds for Mo Salah at Liverpool.

“This is probably the first time we’ve asked this question because he only has a year left to complete his contract.”

Carragher expressed particular concern over the goalscoring form of £85million striker Nunez.

The Uruguayan moved to Anfield in 2022 but has failed to replicate the prolific goalscoring rate seen during his time at former club Benfica.

With 11 Premier League titles to his name this season and just nine last term, Carragher admits he is worried about whether Nunez can be trusted to deliver the Reds in high-stakes games.

“I think I’m at the stage now with Nunez where I don’t think there’s any question to ask,” he added.

“I think after two years at the club and with Liverpool chasing the title, you need your big man to score at Old Trafford, at Goodison.

“There is no time to lose, it is not September, October. This is the business end of the title race.
