The PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Course is next, but will Woods compete? talkSPORT.com takes a look…

Is Woods playing in the 2024 PGA Championship?

Woods is scheduled to play at the PGA Championship next weekend.

Last year, the 15-time major winner revealed he hoped to compete in one event a month in order to manage the workload on his ankle.

He played at the Masters last month and hasn’t been on the course since, meaning he’s ready for the PGA Championship this month.

Speaking on May 1, Woods confirmed that his plan was still in the works, telling NBC’s The Today Show: “The next three months, I have three majors, and I hope everything works out.”

This therefore means that he will target the majors, with the US Open in June, then the Open Championship in July.

Woods continues to play through the pain and after four rounds at Augusta, he hopes to have recovered well.

He revealed that he would be researching the next three major courses after the Masters, saying: “I will be doing my homework in the future at Pinehurst, Valhalla and Troon.”

And now he’s reportedly heading to Valhalla Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky, just days before the event begins.

His participation will depend on his physical condition, but the fact that he is going on a reconnaissance mission seems to show his willingness to play a role.

That doesn’t mean he’ll be pain-free, though, as last month he admitted he was still struggling with every round.

Woods said: “Every shot that’s not on a tee box is a challenge – once we start the hole it’s a bit of a challenge.

“The ankle doesn’t hurt anymore. It’s fused. It’s not going anywhere. So it’s okay. It’s other parts of my body that have to bear the brunt now.

“The back, knee and other parts of the body have to bear the load and the endurance capacity needed to walk for a long time and stand for a long time (is a problem).

“Things are heating up. The training we have to do at home, it changes from day to day. Some days I feel really good and other days not so much. I’m sore every day.”
