Devin Haney responds to call-out from ‘Mexico’s Mike Tyson’ as plan after Ryan Garcia emerges

Devin Haney has already planned his next fight if he beats Ryan Garcia.

Haney is currently gearing up for his blockbuster duel with Garcia as he looks to successfully defend his WBC super lightweight title and move quickly into unification clashes later this year.

One of the fighters keen to touch gloves with the American is Isaac Cruz, who has been endorsed by heavyweight legend Mike Tyson as the fighter most similar to his style.

Cruz suggested he would be willing to fight Haney if he edged Garcia, and the WBC champion insisted he would explore it immediately if he wins.

“I like it when guys call me because it makes for good fights if he’s really serious,” he said.

“This is a fight I will explore once I am victorious against Ryan Garcia on April 20.

“It wouldn’t be any different – I’d make him look mediocre like I do in these guys’ eyes. It’s not easy, I just make him look like that.”

Cruz beat Rolly Romero in his last outing to become the WBA welterweight champion by stopping the fight in the eighth round.

Haney is yet to be beaten in his professional career and has outclassed some big names including Vasyl Lomachenko, Jorge Linares and George Kambosos.

Garcia’s test will be huge next month, as his bitter rival will look to respond to his loss to Gervonta Davis.

This is an intriguing matchup considering the two have met six times in the amateur ranks, with three wins each.

But the 25-year-old is confident a second meeting as professionals will not be necessary as he intends to make a big statement.

Boxing legend Bernard Hopkins gives advice to Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia on boxing career longevity ahead of their big fight

Haney said: “I’m going to beat him. I’m going to beat him so bad that we won’t need a rematch.

“The world won’t want to see a rematch. But I have respect for Ryan. We shared the ring six times as kids, we got together.

“But with (the promotion) I lost a lot of respect for him. I’m a true professional in everything I do.

“This guy is a fucking clown – him and his family. And I’m taking this guy out of boxing.
