Boodles May Festival 2024: Day 3 betting tips by Ed Quigley

Top tipster and broadcaster Ed ‘Longshot Ted’ Quigley is looking for more winners and is back with his best bets for day three of the Boodles May Festival in Chester.

Ted’s three picks for Boodles May Festival 2024:

Find the following picks for the Boodles May Festival on Friday. Bet on the races with our best expert-rated horse racing betting sites:

  • Chester 2.35 – Box to box in each direction – bet with bet365
  • Chester 3.05 – Passenger – bet with CopyBet
  • Chester 4.15 – Dreams a Dozen Each Way – bet with PariMGM

Chester 2.35 – Box To Box each way

BOX IN BOX has an outstanding record on the Roodee, with three wins in four starts over the course and distance, and so should be taken seriously here at his favorite venue. The five-year-old returns after a spell in Bahrain, and given that was his last taste of success there, that can only bode well.

It is versatile when it comes to soil requirements, so the prospect of dried out soil will pose no problem. As for the draw, Box To Box has a handy spot in stall 2, so that’s another positive for the Hugo Palmer-trained individual. Will Buick circles the gelding, and this combination can get into the thick of things at a one-way price.

Chester 3.05 – Passenger

The little run PASSENGER is an exciting guy with a 4 year campaign in mind, and the Sir Michael Stoute trained representative is of real interest here. Having won on debut, he ran well when not beaten far in last year’s Dante, but found things too much when well beaten in the Derby.

It was probably a mix-up of the occasion and his inability to stay at 1m4f that day didn’t stop him from exploiting his full potential. He ended the season with a hard-fought performance to get back on track in a Group 3 at Windsor. With further progress expected, he can hit the ground running here and make his presence felt among the division’s elite as he gains experience. Richatd Kingscote takes over, and I think they have a strong claim to this Group 2 prize.

Chester 4.15 – Dreams a Dozen Each Way

As you would expect, it’s wide open, but it may go the way of the one trained by Charlie Johnston. TEENAGE DREAMS. The 4-year-old doesn’t have many miles on his clock and is putting up track form numbers of 122, so he should be feared returning to this venue. The ‘King of Chester’, Franny Norton, will direct, and a rating of 78 doesn’t go beyond this talented guy who can see that long 2m2 trip with a drying pitch to help.

Stand 8 is no problem on this trip, and the yard has been one of the winners lately. In a wide open encounter, he looks a solid either-way angle given he tends to save his best form for the Roodee. Dreams Adozen seems more than capable of getting involved in the business side of proceedings.

Don’t forget, Ed will be back on Saturday with his best bets on what should be a blockbuster weekend of action…
