The FBI eventually tracked Wendy down in Bayamón, a western suburb of the capital San Juan, after she used her credit card to make transactions.

Stella was found in a nearby hotel room where they were staying, but local media reported that they were camping in the store a few days earlier.

Wendy did not have custody of her daughter and Stella was returned to her father, Jeremy Salter.

Wendy was a school counselor for over a decade and now writes children’s books.

Lyon police and the FBI will extradite Wendy to Georgia where she will likely face charges. She will appear in court on April 11.

Friends sent Wendy panicked messages in the comments of her Facebook posts after she updated her profile on April 2.

‘Come on sister. Everyone is worried about you…let someone know you’re okay. Or if you don’t tell anyone,” one wrote.

“You are loved by many and your daughters need you to be safe.”

Another added: “I want you to know that I love you all and hope you are all safe! If you decide to run, just let someone know you’re safe so people will stop worrying. I wish you nothing but the best.

A third wrote: “Hey honey, a lot of people who love you are very worried, please let someone know that you and your baby girl are ok.”

A fourth friend said they were only an hour away from Orlando if she needed help, but by then she was already in Puerto Rico.
