Iranian President Ebrahim Raïssi was confirmed dead on Monday more than 12 hours after the first report on Sunday that his helicopter had disappeared in the northwest of the country.
Following the official confirmation, First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber took office as president on Monday, according to a statement from Iran’s Guardian Council carried by state media.
