Although some may be intimidated by the idea of hitting the slopes with the Olympic snowboarder Shaun White, Nina Dobrev proved she could compete with the best of them.
“She’s really good on the board,” Shaun told E! News in an exclusive interview. “She grew up in Canada. So it was good because sometimes it’s a make-or-break relationship. Not if they don’t know how to ride, but people came with me and it didn’t end well .because sometimes I’m not the best coach.”
And if you’re wondering how a three-time gold medalist could struggle to teach the sport, White explained that it’s because he describes it as “all in feelings,” which doesn’t always translate to the student .
“So, fortunately,” he continued, “she was already well.”
Yet the founder of Whitespace understands how some might get stuck in this scenario.
“When people come to me, especially my close friends, I decorate them with all the new equipment,” he said. “And they say, ‘I look way too cool. I’m way better than my actual skills. And now they see me with you, and they expect me to do the jumps.’ So I think there’s a little bit of nervousness or a hurdle that a lot of my friends and Nina may have felt at first.”
