Jillian Lauren, author and wife of Weezer’s bassist, Scott Shriner, was killed by Los Angeles police and arrested for attempted murder after pointing a firearm on police officers before, authorities announced on Wednesday.
Lauren, 51, identified by the police like Jillian Shriner and listed like Jillian Lauren Shriner in the prison archives, suffered injuries that were not fatal after the shooting in the northeast district of Los Angeles of Eagle Rock on Thursday, the LAPD announced in a statement.
Its representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comments and there is no indication that Scott Shriner was involved in the incident. Weezer should play the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Saturday.
Police said they were helping California Highway Patrol officers in their search for three suspects of an offense. Lauren was not among the suspects. But while pursuing one of them who would have run in a courtyard, the police fell on Lauren in the courtyard before his neighboring residence, holding a handgun.
They repeatedly ordered her to drop the pistol, but she refused and pointed it to the police. They did not say if she had shot the weapon, but said that she had been touched by police gunshots and fled to her house, where they placed her in police custody and then took her to the hospital.

Lauren and Shriner were married in 2005, and they have two children.
