Lewis had some success with his strikes early in the second, only to find himself in the clinch again. When he found daylight again, he scored, and he was the only one to do so, as Nascimento was seemingly content to hold the Texan in the clinch. With less than two minutes remaining, a failed takedown attempt by Lewis allowed Nascimento to briefly take the lead before moving to half guard, where he got up with a few elbows.
In the first minute of the third round, a looping right hand swung and dropped Nascimento, and after a series of unanswered ground strikes, referee Jason Herzog stopped the fight. The official time was :49 in the third round.
With the win, No. 12-ranked Lewis improves to 28-12, 1 NC. Nascimento, ranked No. 15, falls to 11-2, 1 NC.
