Max Verstappen WINS Japanese Grand Prix as Red Bull secures 1-2 finish after long red flag delay following first lap crash as Mercedes endures another day to forget
Max Verstappen continued his seemingly inexorable quest for a fourth consecutive Formula 1 title with victory at the Japanese Grand Prix.
The Red Bull star took another victory at Suzuka on Sunday morning, ahead of teammate Sergio Perez, as the reigning constructors’ champions once again dominated the paddock.
Although there were few surprises on the podium, with Carlos Sainz finishing third for Ferrari, the race got off to a spectacular start.
Alex Albon and Danny Ricciardo were involved in a big crash on the opening lap which saw the race delayed by a lengthy red flag.
For Mercedes it was another grueling day, with Lewis Hamilton finishing ninth, two places behind teammate George Russell.
