Two of Souths’ famous Burgess brothers ‘clash after trying to break the rules in Russell Crowe’s private dressing room’ at footy

Two of Souths’ famous Burgess brothers were allegedly involved in a violent exchange during South Sydney’s match against the Warriors at Accor Stadium on Saturday.

Footy reporter Danny Weidler says his older brother Luke and retired NRL star George were invited to Hollywood superstar Russell Crowe’s private dressing room to watch the round five match.

However, the brothers reportedly showed up with three friends who were not on the invitation list.

“There was a bit of an argument,” Weidler said on Nine’s 100% Footy.

“They were criticized by the Souths manager for bringing three extra people into Russell Crowe’s box.

“They were reprimanded and told they might pay an extra $800 to have them there.”

“The people they brought were actually involved in Ramadan, they said they weren’t eating or drinking, they were just there.”

As of yet, there has been no response to Weilder’s claims from the Burgess brothers or the Rabbitohs, but the reporter suggests fans could hear more in the coming days.

Luke Burgess first made his name in the UK with Leeds Rhinos in the English Super League, winning a title in 2009.

He then moved to Australia ahead of the 2011 NRL season, signing a deal alongside his three siblings – Sam as well as twins, George and Tom – at South Sydney Rabbitohs.

George Burgess played 149 games for South Sydney and won the premiership with the Rabbitohs in 2014 alongside his brothers Sam and Tom, as well as 15 caps for England.

He won a premiership with Cairns Brothers in 2023 before calling time on his football career.

Tom Burgess – George’s twin brother – is currently playing his final season for the Rabbitohs.

All four Burgess brothers took the field in the same match for the Rabbitohs in 2013.

He appeared in the 2014 grand final with Souths alongside his brothers Sam and George and plans to finish his UK career with the Huddersfield Giants in 2025.

Souths legend Sam Burgess retired from football due to a shoulder injury in 2019 after becoming arguably the best England striker to ever play in Australia.

Burgess continued to coach the Bunnies, but left the club under a dark cloud last year amid an alleged dispute over the alleged favorable treatment of star players Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker.

The footballing great landed his first high-profile coaching job over the off-season, with Super League side Warrington Wolves, and enjoyed instant success.
