Top allies pull out of INDIA, meet in Delhi as BJP sweeps Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh MPs – Firstpost

The upcoming INDIA bloc meeting will be different, sources said, as the Congress will not be able to dictate terms within the alliance after the results of the 2023 Assembly elections are declared on Sunday.

The humiliation of the Congress seems to have no end in sight as, soon after the disastrous assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh in 2023, top INDI Alliance leaders refused to attend the meeting of the bloc that party chief Mallikarjun Kharge had called for December 6. .

DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin spoke about the grave situation the state finds itself in due to Cyclone Michaung.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, however, appears to have dodged due to “prior commitments”.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek Banerjee have also confirmed that they will not attend the upcoming INDI Alliance meeting.

The power equation in INDIA has changed

The next INDIA bloc meeting will be different, sources said, as Congress will not be able to dictate terms within the alliance after the results of the 2023 parliamentary elections are declared on Sunday (November 3). .

There were already divisions and differences between the other alliance partners and the Congress, with the party disagreeing on seat-sharing with the Samajwadi Party (SP), the Left, the CPI, the CPI(M) in Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Chhattisgarh.

Alliance partners were also angry because a number of members asked Congress, throughout the preparation and during the electoral process, to hold a general assembly, a coordination committee and a campaign committee meeting , but this was refused.

Congress cannot dictate

A senior leader told News18: “Congress, now, clearly cannot dictate its own terms. There should be coordination between all parties together.

The meeting is also expected to feature a debate on who will lead the INDI alliance. Members of the bloc also said they would come up with an alternative vision after things did not work out in Congress’s favor on the ground, despite announcing a number of projects.

The Congress’s footprint in north India is gradually fading, with the party holding the helm only in Himachal Pradesh. The party was wiped out in the Hindu heartland.

There has been anger within the INDIA bloc whose activities were blocked by Congress well before the 2023 parliamentary elections.

With results going against the Congress’s favor, Kharge turned to X and mentioned the INDI alliance in his first response, saying: “The Congress Party participated with full force in the elections of these four states. I express my gratitude to our countless workers. Without being discouraged by this defeat, we must, along with the Indian parties, start preparing for the Lok Sabha elections with double enthusiasm.

The Indian National Alliance for Inclusive Development, or INDIA, is a coalition of political parties led by the Indian National Congress (INC) that was formed to take on the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Lok Sabha polls of 2024. It was formed at a meeting of the opposition party in Bangalore in July 2023.
