Wrexham’s Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have welcomed their side’s promotion to League One.

And McElhenney, watching from Los Angeles, couldn’t contain his excitement as he took to social media.

He wrote on X: Hey @m_griffiths92 noticed you reading some tweets. My son and I just wanted to say hello from Los Angeles. A very nice day, huh?

He then added, “No words,” with a heart emoji once the promotion was officially confirmed.

Meanwhile, Reynolds wrote: “A few years ago if you told me I would cry tears of joy at a football match taking place in North Wales you would be Rob McElhenney.”

“Congratulations to Wrexham and my crime co-chair. Double the city! This is the adventure of our lives.

Phil Parkinson’s men were aware that a victory against bottom side Forest Green would secure them a second successive promotion.

And victory came in emphatic fashion, with Wrexham leading at half-time 4-0 thanks to Elliot Lee’s strike, Paul Mullin’s brace and a Ryan Inniss own goal.

The second half continued in a similar fashion, with Ryan Barnett and Jack Marriott. adding two more objectives to get the party started.

Wrexham fans took to social media to express their delight at the achievement and express their gratitude to the Hollywood owners.

Mail Sport’s Nathan Salt wrote on X: One of the best things about Wrexham’s promotion is that it hasn’t been a one-man show, everyone needs it.

“Elliot Lee carried the goals for months, the last winners from Fletcher, Cannon, Cleworth, Mendy, Barnett, Palmer, Evans, Young, Bolton, so many contributions.”

“I just finished my breakfast and had a beer. Well done to this team, to Parky and his team, to the Askwxm family, to MYCR, to the town of Wrexham, to Rob and Ryan!!!!! I love you all!!!’, another fan added.

A third fan said: There’s so much to say. For now, thank you. Incredible day for the city and the long-time fans who fought so hard to preserve this for us. Enjoy this day, wherever you are. We see something incredible happen
