Fans have joked that Newcastle assistant Jason Tindall could take a leaf out of Kevin Nolan’s book with his touchline courtesy.

Nolan gestured for Jurgen Klopp to shake Moyes’ hand first after Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with West Ham on Saturday as a sign of deference.

It’s common for managers to shake hands after a match, but Tindall, Eddie Howe’s assistant at Newcastle, often doesn’t get the memo.

He went viral last season for a compilation of him breaking tradition and jumping to shake hands before Howe could.

On one occasion, Wolves boss Gary O’Neil even snubbed him in order to follow standard procedure.

After Nolan showed Klopp the direction of Moyes, fans claimed Tindall would do well to take notes.

“Newcastle assistant would in no way look like Howe shaking hands before me,” one user wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“NUFC assistant coach must learn!” said another.

“This Tindall would have been straight for a selfie with his autograph book out,” one commented.

Another gave Tindall a new name, writing: “Jason Tiddle would have been blunt. »

“Enough to make Jason Tindall turn around in his deckchair,” one joked.

Nolan was praised for his courteous conduct: “Well done Kev. It is traditional for managers to shake hands first.

To be fair to Tindall, his status as Newcastle’s assistant is apparently higher than that enjoyed by other management acolytes.

Howe encouraged Tindall to have a strong touchline presence, which would explain his behavior.

Howe revealed that it was something he wanted: “We’re both very active on the sidelines and I encouraged Jason to be.”

“We were very much a partnership when we started managing – we try to do everything we can to help the players.”

He will often be alongside Howe on the technical side, forming an inseparable double act.

In March, he appeared on Sky Sports’ Guess the Footballer alongside Howe. Klopp also participated in the game, but he did it alone.

Last season, Howe even joked that Tindall really enjoyed the attention.

He admitted Tindall had “an eye for the camera” after a viral X account said he was “desperate to be the center of attention”.
