“The Talk” to sign off for good in December after 15 seasons

“The Talk” will go silent after 15 seasons. CBS has announced that the long-running daytime talk show will end this fall.

CBS made the news official on Friday, with CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios President David Stapf releasing a joint statement.

“‘The Talk’ broke new ground when it launched 14 years ago by returning daytime talk to CBS with a refreshing, award-winning format. Over the years, it has been a key program for top-rated daytime programming from CBS as it brought timely, important and entertaining topics and discussions into living rooms around the world.

“The Talk” debuted in 2010 on CBS. It was created by actress Sara Gilbert, joined by Julie Chen Moonves, Holly Robinson Peete, Sharon Osbourne and Leah Remini.

The series has changed faces over the years. The show’s current lineup consists of Sheryl Underwood, Amanda Kloots, Akbar Gbajabiamila, Natalie Morales and Jerry O’Connell.

“It goes without saying that hosting and producing a year-round talk show is no easy task, and we express our sincere gratitude to our incredible hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood, our executive producer/showrunner Rob Crabbe and the hard-working production team,” said Reisenbach and Stapf. “We also want to thank our former hosts and colleagues who have contributed over the seasons. We truly appreciate the skill, creativity and dedication that everyone involved brings to the show every day.”

Reisenbach and Stapf also thanked the show’s many guests and millions of viewers.

The series will have a shortened 15th season, which will celebrate the series’ premiere.

“For the final season, we plan to celebrate the series and give it the farewell it deserves when it ends in December 2024,” Reisenbach and Stapf said.

During his tenure, “The Talk” won 11 Daytime Emmy Awards, as well as the People’s Choice Award for Daytime Television Hosting Team and the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Talk Series.
