Following a Ceaserfire agreement between India and Pakistan, the Indian Premier League (IPL) could resume as soon as possible. IPL 2025 was suspended for a week Friday in the middle of increasing tensions on the border between India and Pakistan. Most of the foreign recruits in IPL franchises left for their respective countries on Saturday after the decision to suspend the league was announced by the BCCI. After the ceasefire was agreed, the president of IPL, Arun Dhumal, said that the BCCI is considering the possibility of taking up IPL “immediately”.
“The ceasefire has just been announced. We are now exploring the possibility of resuming and concluding the IPL. If it is possible to lead it immediately … We must develop the dates of the place and everything, and that we were now going to speak to all the stakeholders, including the team owners, the broadcasters, and all the people involved and we would find a way to know how to move forward.
According to a report by the Times of India (you), IPL 2025 is very likely to resume on Thursday or Friday maximum.
“The Board Indian Cricket had suspended the league rich in cash due to cross -border tensions, but normality will now take over. Players abroad of each franchise are on the way back, but will be invited to join their respective teams as soon as possible,” said the report.
The report added that deductibles will now start their arrangements in accordance with the directives that should be established by the BCCI.
“Yes, players abroad were panicking, but it was more because of the airport closure and everything. They patiently listened to the franchises and had fully confidence, but it was the fear that international airports closed, which triggered a lot of panic,” said a source close to development.
Meanwhile, the BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, said that the updates concerning the revised calendar and the premises for the rest of the tournament would be shared in due course after a complete assessment of the situation in consultation with the authorities and the stakeholders concerned.
The suspension of the IPL intervenes in the wake of the missile strikes of India targeting terrorist infrastructure across the border in Pakistan and Jammu and the cashmere occupied by Pakistan.
The strikes were carried out in response to the terrorist attack on April 22, which made 26 lives.
