Walmart billionaire Rob Walton is leaving the family company’s board of directors.

Walmart announced Thursday that Walton, the eldest son of founder Sam Walton, would retire after more than 40 years on the board as its longest-serving member. He joined Walmart in 1969 and will resign at the end of his current term in June, the company said.

With a net worth of $79.8 billion, Walton is among the 20 richest people in the world. The 79-year-old practiced law, collected vintage cars and is the richest owner in the NFL after his record-breaking purchase of the Denver Broncos in 2022.
