The Russian Security Service (FSB) announced on March 29 that it had arrested three individuals from Central Asia who were planning to carry out an attack in a “mass gathering place” in the Stavropol Territory.

Three individuals, suspected of preparing an attack in the Stavropol Territory, in the North Caucasus, were apprehended by FSB agents, the Public Relations Center of the Russian Security Service announced on March 29.

Originating from “a Central Asian country”, they “planned to commit a terrorist act” using an explosive device in “one of the mass gathering places in the Stavropol territory”, details the press release.

According to the same source, “components of an improvised explosive device and chemical substances” were seized from the accused’s home by investigators.

This announcement comes a week to the day after the attack perpetrated in the Crocus City Hall concert hall, in a close suburb of Moscow. An attack during which four armed men opened fire on spectators, before setting fire to the room. 143 people were killed during this terrorist attack, according to a report from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations dated March 27.
