NQ64 has been around for a little while, but alongside the Shoreditch-based bar there is now a specialist burger restaurant as well as video game-themed cocktails on offer. In addition to its burgers, the place also specializes in croquettes, which perfectly complement any meal on site.

The Bacon Double Cheeseburger and Dalston Dip were definitely the burgers of choice for me and my friends, and when it came to cocktails, as much as I wanted to try so many, the sweet taste of the Kirby kept me coming back for seconds.

And when you’ve finished your burgers, that’s where the real fun begins with the venue hosting its own arcade area. Think classics like Tekken, Guitar Hero and the wildly popular Dance Dance Revolution, as well as retro offerings like Street Fighter and classic N64 and Nintendo GameCube games.

A burger

Flat iron

While a basic burger is always on our wishlist, there’s something about a seriously decadent sandwich that makes our mouths water. I tried Flat Iron’s béarnaise burger and it made me seriously reconsider my favorite order at the restaurant chain: two smashed patties, pickle slices, shallots, melted American cheese, dripping fried leftover dough and a homemade béarnaise sauce suddenly seems a lot more appealing than that. the usual order of medium-rare steak.

Although the béarnaise sauce was the part that really elevated it for me, the tangy pickles cut the decadence so it didn’t seem too rich. Combined with their epic sides (always the mac and cheese and tenderstem broccoli), it checked all the boxes for me!

Supra

The best types of burgers are always the simplest. While we’ve loved seeing the popularity of this menu staple rise, sometimes you just have to look at the ingredients on offer and think, “What?” Luckily, that’s not the case with Supra, which has taken the humble burger back to basics.

Located inside Cocotte at Queen’s Park, you can avoid the hustle and bustle of the big city and simply enjoy an intimate moment with friends with a simple burger in front of you. I ate a double bacon cheeseburger with fries and it took me straight back to simpler times. The apple tart dessert was also a slice of magic to end the evening.

Along with a refreshing wine list and the most charming table staff I’ve encountered in a restaurant, make sure you don’t miss this exciting residence.

The waterway

London offers some truly spectacular views if you know where to look, including Little Venice and the canals around Warwick Avenue. Ideally located by the river, the aptly named Waterway offers magnificent views and a comfortable space to relax on a summer evening.

Now, I’m a meat lover but also aware of the impact it has on the planet, so I opted for something a little different when I visited this place, opting for one of their delicious vegan burgers. Now I know it’s a cliché, but I really couldn’t say I wasn’t eating a beef patty. The similarities right down to the texture and even the cheese are what I would expect from a meat-filled bun and have even inspired me to inject a little more vegan food into my daily diet.
