Supreme Court refuses to stay declaration of NEET results over alleged paper leak: report

The Supreme Court on Friday (May 17) refused to grant a stay on the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2024, reported Live Law.

However, the apex court agreed to issue a notice on the PIL seeking that the NEET UG exams be conducted again in light of the alleged malpractices and paper leaks of the exam, Live Law said.

The bench of CJI DY Chandrachud, comprising Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, agreed to consider the case and posted it for hearing after the summer vacation(in July), Live Law reported.

The CJI, however, noted that the results of an “all-India review” cannot be stayed at this time.

Senior advocate Narendre Hooda defended the petitioners who alleged that there was paper leak of NEET UG exams and this would amount to unfair practices hampering the quality of results.

The petitioners claim that the examination conducted on May 5 by the National Testing Agency (NTA) was riddled with malpractices as various cases of paper leaks were brought to the notice of the petitioner. Live Law said.
