Newly arrived illegal immigrant kidnaps 11-year-old girl, rapes her in his white van as her mother screams for help outside

  • An illegal migrant has been arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl.
  • Alleged sexual assault happened in white van, police say
  • The suspect, Marvin Dionel Perez Lopez, is in custody and faces rape charges.

A 20-year-old illegal migrant has been arrested after allegedly kidnapping an 11-year-old girl off the street outside his Florida home and raping her last week.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office identified Marvin Dionel Perez Lopez as the girl’s attacker, saying he forced her into his white van where the alleged sexual assault took place.

The child’s mother, police said, looked for her daughter and saw the van outside of where she and Lopez lived. The mother actually saw her daughter and Lopez in the van and began banging on the door, yelling for Lopez to release the girl.

Sherriff’s deputies said Lopez ran from the van at that point. The victim’s mother then stopped by Lopez’s apartment where her brother also lived. Lopez’s brother brought him home and his mother confronted him.

After listening to Lopez’s pleas for forgiveness, the victim’s mother called 911.

Investigators on scene interviewed the victim who told them Lopez forced himself on her even after she tried to refuse and run away.

At the same time, Lopez tried to escape again, this time through a back window of his apartment. Police noticed Lopez doing this and chased him. It’s unclear if they caught him right away, but police confirmed Lopez’s arrest Monday.

An expert spoke to CBS12 and said this type of crime is rare.

“Stranger rape is much less common than acquaintance rape. So, more often than not, it’s someone the person knows,” said Nicole Bishop, director of Palm Beach County Victim Services.

Lopez was taken into custody on charges of kidnapping with intent to sexually assault a minor, sexual assault of a victim under the age of 12 and resisting a police officer without violence.

He is currently being held without bail in the Palm Beach County Jail.
