Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson showed off his abilities on both ends of the field when he took to PNC Park to throw out the first pitch on Friday.

Before the Pirates’ game against the Boston Red Sox at home, the former Super Bowl champion had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial pitch in his new city.

Wilson wore a black Pirates jersey as he took the mound. He then showed how his quarterback accuracy translates to baseball with a quick, focused throw.

Additionally, Wilson showed off his prowess in the batter’s box.

A clip released by MLB shows the Steelers’ new facilitator at bat. Wilson shows off his swing, crushing several balls down the field.

Wilson arrived in Pittsburgh after his four-year contract with the Denver Broncos was cut short midway following two lackluster seasons. After being informed he would be cut in free agency, the Broncos gave Wilson the green light to talk to other teams in advance.

Before landing with the Steelers, Wilson reportedly met with the Raiders and Giants.

Besides Wilson, the Steelers also acquired rising star Justin Fields from Chicago.

With a veteran and a promising quarterback on his roster, Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin previously revealed that the 2014 Super Bowl winner was in pole position to start. On the other hand, Fields will get minutes but will mainly serve as an understudy to his elder brother.

“Russell has those resources, man, that structure, and that’s why I say he’s got the pole position, man,” Tomlin said in March. “It just creates a synergy that I think is good for this time of year.”

“When it’s time to compete, we get into training camp type settings and go to preseason stadiums and so on, obviously Justin will have an opportunity that shows his abilities.”

Wilson and Fields will fan the flames of a Steelers team that finished last season with a 10-7 record and a third-place finish in the AFC North.
