Romania, the surprise winners of a group that also included Slovakia, Belgium and Ukraine, are rewarded with a meeting with the Netherlands in Munich tonight. It is the first time in 24 years that they have reached the last 16 of a major tournament and they have won only one of their qualifying matches in their history (a round of 16 victory over Argentina at USA 94).
The Netherlands are looking to end a run of four consecutive defeats in the Euro knockout stages, but they have not yet been at their best in this tournament. It’s a game that could go either way and kicks off in Munich at 5pm BST.
