‘Best Ring Entrance Ever’ – Scary Mike Tyson Arrives Without Music Before Title Fight Captures Peak Power From History’s Most Dangerous Boxer

There’s a reason Mike Tyson’s name still resonates loudly in the boxing world.

Iron Mike was scary in the ring in his prime.

Tyson will be 58 when he faces YouTube star Jake Paul in a must-see fight on July 20 at the 80,000-capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which will be streamed live on Netflix.

The pros and cons of a matchup against Paul, 27, have been hotly debated since the surprising announcement of the fight went viral.

Even Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes weighed in on the old-school power of Tyson and how Paul could win.

“I’m afraid of Mike Tyson,” Mahomes said.

In 1988, Tyson was at his peak at heavyweight and truly at the top of the boxing world.

Video footage of a near-silent walk into the ring shows how scary and intimidating Tyson was.

“This is the most hardcore shit in the history of the universe,” one fan posted.

What makes the footage so intense is the fact that Tyson made his way to the ring with almost no sound.

Music normally blares from the arena or stadium speakers, while boxers often spend months choosing the perfect song to accompany their entrance.

Not Iron Mike on June 27, 1988.

As Michael Spinks awaited a highly publicized showdown in Atlantic City, New Jersey, at the Atlantic City Convention Hall near Donald Trump Plaza, Tyson slowly made his way to the ring in near silence.

“That heavy metal sound you hear is Mike Tyson about to force his way into the ring, I believe,” an announcer said.

But it wasn’t about shredding electric guitars or pounding drums.

The only sound – other than the growing buzz of a packed crowd – was the eerie sound of chains rattling.

“All I can say is that a heavyweight champion is about to enter the ring,” the announcer said.

“Mike Tyson chose his pre-fight music as just noise. Every now and then you hear the clanking of chains.

“I think that’s what he has in mind to do in charge of Mike Spinks, but we’ll see.

“Everything Tyson does is intimidating.”

Tyson wasn’t wearing a big coat, but he was already sweating profusely before entering the ring.

The sound of rattling chains was the only sound coming from the speakers.

“The reason Tyson’s entrance ‘music’ can’t be found is because it was never recorded,” one fan said. “They just stuck a microphone into his soul and played it over the speakers.”

“‘Everything Mike Tyson does is intimidating’. I’ve never heard a truer statement,” a second fan posted.

“This is the best ring entrance ever,” said a third fan. “Spinks was playing this upbeat music. And then all of a sudden Tyson walks in, with this menacing noise, the whole crowd is amazed with goosebumps, as he coolly approaches the ring.”

“This was and still is the most intense and intimidating entrance into a fight, or anything for that matter,” a fourth fan wrote. “It’s like an animal being led to its meal. Holy shit.”

It got even more intense once the snapping chains stopped and Tyson started throwing punches.

Spinks was eliminated in just 91 secondssuddenly ending a fight that had been hyped for months.

Tyson held the WBA, WBC and IBF heavyweight titles and was known around the world as the best boxer alive.

After facing serious life problems and being imprisoned, Tyson turned his life around in 2024.

“I’m just very grateful – I’m a cool guy, I’m a good person, I treated everyone nice,” Tyson said on The Pivot podcast.

“I spent the best three years of my life in prison.”

If Iron Mike manages to capture one of his old forms of boxing on July 20 in an NFL stadium that normally belongs to the Dallas Cowboys, Paul might want to keep it on YouTube.

“There is no other boxer on the planet as intimidating as Tyson,” one fan posted.
