Ryan Garcia had to undergo tests on his “brain function” before his fight against Devin Haney, according to a new report.

Garcia was accused of drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana, causing the New York commission to travel to his training camp to test him for mental health reasons.

However, he passed the evaluation and it is clear that he will fight Haney – although the contest will not be a title fight because Garcia arrived overweight.

ESPN reported that the 25-year-old passed a standard skills test, as well as a scan of his brain functions.

The commission said it “works to protect the health and safety of all combat sports participants and to preserve the integrity of combat sports competition in New York State.”

Barclays Center clash won’t be title fight as Garcia was three pounds overweight

World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman said: “I am sure he is in excellent condition for the fight. His trainer vouches for it and he looks good.

He added that the concerns he had about Garcia six weeks ago had “disappeared.”

Garcia repeatedly denied using drugs, saying he “didn’t do coke” and “never even thought about doing drugs.”

He initially refused the wellness test, saying, “I felt humiliated…I definitely felt isolated and targeted.” I didn’t feel good about them wanting to do a mental evaluation.

He also released a video of himself making threats against the Commission, revealing: “I’m actually going to sue you for defamation.”

The New York State Athletic Commission could not confirm Garcia’s claims because they are limited by privacy concerns.

On Friday, Garcia and Haney had their weigh-ins for the clash at the Barclays Center, but it won’t be a title fight as Garcia was three pounds over the 140-pound limit.

Garcia reportedly agreed to pay Haney $500,000 for each additional pound, which would amount to a $1.5 million payout if the bet was legitimate.

The two months leading up to fight week included topics related to demonic possession, UFOs and Garcia’s divorce from the mother of his newborn son.
