Report: 49ers had ‘good meeting’ with Brandon Aiyuk, not looking to trade him

49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk requested a meeting with the team, which took place Monday.

Aiyuk still hasn’t gotten the long-term extension he’s seeking, but the meeting proved productive.

NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reports that it was a “good meeting” that resulted in the understanding that the 49ers have no interest in trading Aiyuk and that Aiyuk has no interest in being traded.

“They are moving forward and they want Aiyuk be part of the team in 2024,” Pelissero said, via Taylor Wirth of NBC Sports Bay Area. “So what I expect here is that all parties involved will go ahead and enjoy the Fourth of July holiday, and regroup sometime afterward. They still have several weeks here to see if they can work out a deal that locks Brandon Aiyuk in with San Francisco long term.

Aiyuk skipped the entire offseason program, including the mandatory minicamp. He is under contract with a $14.1 million fifth-year option in 2024, and he would like $30 million or more per year.

However, the parties did not reach an agreement after months of discussions.

Aiyuk had 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns last season, following 78 receptions for 1,015 yards and seven touchdowns in 2022.
