‘Really, really poor’ – Unai Emery has face like thunder as Phil Foden free-kick goes through Aston Villa wall

talkSPORT’s Troy Deeney has not held back in criticizing Aston Villa after their “really, really poor” wall for Phil Foden’s goal against them.

Rodri put Manchester City ahead at the Etihad Stadium before the visitors equalized through Jhon Duran after a fine one-two.

Villa would have been desperate to go into the break at 1-1 as the hosts gained momentum and were awarded a free-kick just outside the area.

Foden was the man who took it and did so with a solid strike, which found its way into the bottom corner of the goal.

Replays show Nicolo Zaniolo and Ezri Konsa diverting the ball into the Villa wall, allowing it to pass past Villans keeper Robin Olsen.

And speaking on talkSPORT commentary, former Birmingham City man Deeney was unimpressed, saying: “He went through the wall.

“Both Konsa and Zaniolo have turned around, they are supposed to take it on the chest… it is very poor indeed from Aston Villa.”

Deeney later said: “There will be an investigation into this. »

Villa did well to respond to City’s opening goal, with their equalizer demonstrating the quality they possess in their side.

However, the free kick conceded could hurt their chances of securing an away result.
