Atlético Barcelona manager Rafa Marquez has spoken out on the future of Pau Victor, with the striker coming to the end of his loan deal with the club.
Victor had a brilliant season for Márquez’s side, scoring 18 goals in 35 games and helping the team to the play-off final.
We don’t yet know what will happen to Victor. He is expected to return to Girona after Barca failed to activate a purchase option in his contract.
Marquez said he told Barcelona the striker was worth keeping earlier in the season.
“I tried to inform them at the beginning of the year that this boy had enough potential to acquire it.
“I think it took us a while to make an offer, I don’t know if the negotiations will continue, it’s not up to me.”
Victor is now set to return to Girona, although there has been speculation he could stay at Barca in a deal that sees Oriol Romeu return to Girona.
