‘Quantum Leap’ Canceled By NBC After 2 Seasons

NBC canceled Quantum leap after two seasons, according to Deadline.

The news comes more than a month after the two-hour Season 2 finale aired on February 20.

The series followed the 1989 show of the same name starring Scott Bakula (who played Dr. Samuel John Beckett) and Dean Stockwell. The 2022 version starred Raymond Lee as physicist Dr. Ben Song, who attempts to restart the Quantum Leap project but ends up trapped in the lives of different people in the past, just like Beckett.

Song “jumps” into different lives in an attempt to return home while trying to fix what went wrong in each of the lives along the way.

Apart from Lee, Quantum leap also starred Caitlin Bassett, Ernie Hudson, Mason Alexander Park and Nanrisa Lee.

The series was created by Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt, who also served as executive producers alongside Martin Gero via Quinn’s House, Dean Georgaris, Deborah Pratt, Chris Grismer and Alex Berger. Universal Television was the studio and Gero and Georgaris were co-showrunners.

Lee posted a farewell reaction on Instagram today to the news of the show’s cancellation.

Quantum leap first premiered on NBC in September 2022. It was renewed for a second season in December of the same year. Season 2 premiered in October 2023.

NBC recently announced that it had renewed Chicago Med, the Chicago fire, Chicago Police, Law and orderAnd Law & Order: SVU for the 2024-2025 season, but Quantum leap didn’t make the cut. No decision has yet been made regarding Law and order: organized crime with Christopher Meloni.

Freshman Dramas Find And The irrational were renewed for a second season in November.
