Patrick Mahomes busts myth about Super Bowl trophy, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce plus names beer to drink for golf

Patrick Mahomes is truly a man of the people.

The three-time NFL Super Bowl champion is proud of his famous “Papa Bod,” while Mahomes loves promoting Kansas City sports and isn’t afraid to make fun of himself.

That was the case again when the Chiefs superstar participated in a revealing interview with Complex Sports.

Mahomes praised Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, let the world know he’s only 15 hours away from graduating from Texas Tech, and knows everyone makes fun of his unique Kermit-like voice frog.

“Damn,” Mahomes said. “I’ve heard a lot of things about the voice.”

But two big revelations say the most about Mahomes as a person and a world-class competitor.

First, the three-time Super Bowl MVP read a tweet about him being “so drunk he randomly gave away the Vince Lombardi Trophy.”

That seemed to be the case in 2023, when Mahomes — wearing a WWE championship belt and custom-made ski goggles — apparently drank so many beers that he forgot where he was and gave away the most valuable trophy of American sport.

Appearances were deceiving, however, and Mahomes was smarter than he appeared that day.

“To be sure, it was a replica of the trophy,” Mahomes said. “I’m not that stupid to hand out the trophy in the middle of a crowd.”

Beer was also involved in another hilarious tweet from Mahomes.

He is a huge fan of baseball, football, and basketball, and regularly posts about other sports he enjoys.

But Mahomes really brings it to the golf course.

In 2023, he teamed with Kelce against Golden State Warriors teammates Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in “The Match.”

A year earlier, Mahomes and Buffalo QB Josh Allen fell to Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers.

The Chiefs leader had a rough start to this match and opened a few cold ones to try to find his rhythm on the greens.

“A Coors Light after being buried in the first two holes is the most relevant thing ever,” one fan tweeted.

“That’s what you have to do,” Mahomes said. “Plus, my nerves were a little on edge.

“You drink a few Coors Lights to settle in and go out and dominate on the golf course.

“It helps my golf game. But there have been times where I get to about 15 or 16 holes and the golf game gets worse.”

This makes Mahomes even more accessible.

It’s no wonder he’s so beloved by NFL fans around the world.

And now everyone knows that the reigning Super Bowl MVP didn’t actually deliver the Lombardi Trophy in 2023.
