Novak Djokovic and Goran Ivanisevic no longer work together – Firstpost

Goran Ivanisevic and Novak Djokovic have worked together since 2018.

Novak Djokovic has parted ways with long-time coach Goran Ivanisevic, the Serb announced in a message on social media. The two men have worked together since 2019 and Ivanisevic has been part of Djokovic’s camp ever since.

In an Instagram post, Djokovic said: “Goran and I decided to stop working together a few days ago. Our on-field chemistry has had its ups and downs, but our friendship has always been strong. In fact, I’m proud to say (not sure if he is) that in addition to winning tournaments together, we also had a side battle in Parchisi…for many years. And – this tournament never stops for us. Šefinjo, thank you for everything my friend. I love you.”

The Serbian also paid tribute to former Wimbledon champion Ivanisevic, recalling their time together which brought them 12 Grand Slam titles.

“I clearly remember the moment I invited Goran to be part of my team. It was 2018, and Marian and I were looking to innovate and bring a little serving magic to our duo. In fact, not only have we brought service, but lots of laughs, fun, a #1 year-end ranking, records, and 12 more Grand Slams (and a few finals) since then.

Djokovic has had a below-average 2024 so far. He lost in the semifinals of the Australian Open to future champion Jannik Sinner and exited the Indian Wells Masters in the third round. He then announced that he would be sitting out the ongoing Miami Masters while juggling “his private and personal schedule.”

Djokovic is next scheduled to play during the clay-court season, starting with the Monte Carlo Masters, which begins April 7.
