The AFL stands with the family of Ashlee Good, daughter of former North Melbourne player Kerry Good, who was tragically killed in the horrific Bondi Junction stabbing attack.

The 38-year-old died hours after she and her baby daughter were stabbed in Saturday’s shocking attack.

Kangaroos players wore black armbands for their match against Geelong, with Northern coach Alastair Clarkson becoming visibly emotional when speaking about the situation before the match.

“It’s a shock for our club and the Good family,” he said on Fox Sports.

“Kerry has been a big part of our club for a long time, it’s so sad. Ashlee and this beautiful little girl, not having a mom – it breaks our hearts.

“What breaks our hearts even more is the humanity this is happening in our country. We’re going to have the same excuse…we have to do something. There has to be a point where it stops.

“The strange thing is you get to the next day and all these boys (players) get to do what they love and that was denied to Ashlee and five other families.

“Our hearts are pretty low today.”

Roos president Sonja Hood said the club was “extremely saddened” by the Bondi incident.

“Like all Australians, we were horrified to see the horrific details revealed in Sydney on Saturday,” Hood said.

“Learning later that Ashlee and her daughter were victims of this tragedy really reminds us of something like this.

“Our thoughts and condolences go out to everyone affected by these horrific events, especially Ashlee’s partner Daniel Flanagan, Kerry and Dian, Ashlee’s mother Denise, and the extended family and to Ashlee’s friends.

“Kerry and his family are incredibly important people in our club’s history and we offer them our love and support during this incredibly difficult time.”

Good was well known in the Melbourne community and was close friends with former Demons player Steve Febey who paid a heartbreaking tribute to her on Sunday morning.

“Words fail me, absolutely broken,” Febey posted on social media alongside a series of photos of him and Good together.

“I don’t understand how this could happen to the most amazing, beautiful, caring human.

‘I will always cherish our friendship, our five stars and the good times we shared. I love you forever Ash xx.’
