Kirtikar, who represents the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Bal Thackeray) faction is the son of Gajanan Kirtikar and is in the fray for the North West Mumbai seat. His election affidavit, submitted to the Election Commission of India, reveals that he holds a 10th grade degree and has assets valued at over Rs 10 crore. However, his candidacy is clouded by several legal cases pending before the court.

The Mumbai North West seat went to Uddhav Thackeray’s kitty during the distribution of MVA seats. This left former Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam angry and disappointed as he was expecting another chance to contest the seat. In 2019, he lost the seat to Gajanan Kirtikar. After the candidate was announced, Nirupam left the Congress (Congress claims he was expelled) and joined Eknath Shinde’s Sena, but he still did not get a ticket.
