Missing Chicago man Jonathan Baez found safe – NBC Chicago

A South Chicago man who went missing after his father’s death has been found safe and is expected to be reunited with his loved ones, family members said Saturday.

Relatives were searching for Jonathan “Jon” Baez, 43, who was the caretaker for his father, retired Chicago police officer Dave Baez. Relatives said the elder Baez battled Parkinson’s disease and died of natural causes last week.

When family members went to the house, John was not there. They feared he would leave grieving over the loss of his father.

Baez’s aunt, Paty Galindo, told NBC Chicago on Saturday that Jon was found in Antioch, at the end of the Metra line, and would be reunited with his loved ones.

Family members previously said Jon often explored the city with his father and may have taken a Metra train to downtown.
