Manchester United vs. Arsenal Predictions

In the last two Premier League weekends, Arsenal played before Manchester City. This allowed them to increase their lead at the top of the table, at least until Pep Guardiola’s men took the field a little later.

This time, the boot is on the other foot. Manchester City go first, with their match against Fulham scheduled for Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

If the champions win at Craven Cottage, they will be two points clear of Arsenal in first place. That would put pressure on Mikel Arteta’s men ahead of their visit to Old Trafford on Sunday.

When these two teams met in the fourth gameweek of the campaign in September, there wasn’t much between them. Tied 1-1 until the dying moments of the match, Arsenal scored twice in second-half stoppage time to take all three points.

Since then, they have gone from strength to strength. A wobble around the festive period saw many write off Arsenal’s title chance, but they have been magnificent since the turn of the year, taking 43 points from a possible 48 after January 1.

The same cannot be said for Manchester United, who dug new depths with a 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Monday night.

The most damning thing about that match at Selhurst Park was that the final score wasn’t much of a surprise.

Erik ten Hag is surely coming towards the end of his tenure at Old Trafford, although United’s underperformance has gone on for so long now that the problems run deeper than the man in the dugout.

United are in the FA Cup final later this month and they may need to build some momentum before then. But against title-chasing Arsenal, these 90 minutes could be difficult for the Red Devils.

Manchester United vs Arsenal Betting Tips

Manchester United and Arsenal will face each other in the Premier League this weekend.

Arsenal win to nil – 2/1 (Paddy Power)

Arsenal have the best offensive and defensive results in the Premier League this season, but it is their solidity in defense that really sets them apart.

Although there are still three matches to play for some teams, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has already won the Golden Glove after keeping more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper this season.

The Gunners have managed to keep their opponents away in 17 of their 36 matches to date. That’s five times more than Everton, the team with the second best record. Ten of Arsenal’s shutouts have come in 2024, as they have tightened further.

Manchester United created few chances against Crystal Palace last time out. Their overall goalscoring record has actually been reasonably good in recent weeks, but the possible absence of Bruno Fernandes would significantly reduce their attacking threat, as was the case at Selhurst Park.

Arsenal are very focused on them at the moment and that should help them keep a clean sheet this weekend.

Under 3.5 goals – 10/11 (bet365)

Manchester United have been in a state of defensive disarray for much of the season. Ten Hag’s team conceded 55 goals, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Without goaltender Andre Onana, this statistic would be much worse.

We know this because United give up so many chances. They rank fifth in expected goals, behind Burnley, West Ham United, Luton Town and Sheffield United. When it comes to shots conceded, only Sheffield United have a worse record per game.

Still, this match might not be as notable as many think. On the one hand, United can get away with a more defensive approach given who they face. The home crowd won’t be agitated if a reactive game plan manages to blunt Arsenal’s attack.

From the visitors’ point of view, they will have learned the lessons of a recent trip to Tottenham Hotspur. After taking a 3-0 lead, Arsenal eventually held on after Spurs went two goals back.

Game management will be the order of the day, so you shouldn’t necessarily expect Arteta’s side to chase more and more goals.

Aim for under 3.5 goals at 10/11 with bet365

Kai Havertz will score anytime – 6/4 (bet365)

Kai Havertz really changed his season. Dismissed as a transfer failure in the first half of the campaign, the Germany international has been instrumental in recent months.

Having struggled to influence matches as a midfielder, Havertz flourished as a central striker.

His work ethic and aerial abilities have recently added a new dimension to Arsenal’s attack.

Havertz scored in the aforementioned defeat to Tottenham, just days before he had scored a brace against Chelsea.

The 24-year-old has divided opinions throughout his time in England, but he can show his quality against Manchester United on Sunday.

Advise Kai Havertz to score anytime with 6/4 at bet365
