Man City handed huge scare ahead of Brighton clash as star duo Erling Haaland and Phil Foden miss training
Pep Guardiola will be sweating over the fitness of Erling Haaland and Phil Foden, with both Manchester City men having missed training.
The attacking duo were away on Tuesday ahead of the club’s clash at Brighton on Thursday night – live on talkSPORT.
City’s trip to the Amex Stadium could prove decisive in the Premier League title race with Arsenal and Liverpool.
Norwegian striker Haaland was already doubtful due to a muscle injury.
He called out Pep Guardiola during the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid and missed Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final victory over Chelsea at Wembley.
Speaking about the former Borussia Dortmund striker last weekend, Guardiola told BBC Sport: “He (Haaland) is injured.
“I don’t think it’s much, but he’s not capable for today. I don’t know (if he’ll be back for the next game).”
As for Foden, he played throughout the match against Chelsea, but was not present at training on Tuesday, reports the Manchester Evening News.
It is still unclear why the England international was absent.
But City have one more session scheduled for Wednesday before heading south.
Good news for City, defender John Stones took part in training after being withdrawn against the Blues.
Stones came off at half-time, leading to speculation that he might have had a problem at the Home of Football.
But the former Everton centre-back should be available to face Brighton.
As Guardiola addresses the media on Wednesday, he is expected to issue an update on the fitness of Foden and Haaland.
