  • Lizzo faced increasing criticism following her performance at a Biden campaign event.

Lizzo says she’s had enough.

The 35-year-old artist said in an Instagram post Friday evening that she would “stop.” Lizzo didn’t specify what she was giving up, but said she was tired of being “dragged” online.

“All I want to do is make music, make people happy, and help the world be a little better than I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want to not from me,” Lizzo wrote.

She continued: “I’m constantly dealing with lies being told about me for influence and looks…being the butt of the joke every time because of my appearance…my character is being undermined. share by people who don’t know me and disrespect my name. I didn’t sign up for this shit – I quit.”

In the comments, celebrities like Paris Hilton and rapper Killer Mike shared words of encouragement.

“We love you, Queen,” Hilton wrote.

Lizzo did not specify what “lies” or “jokes” led to her statement.

The singer faced a wave of criticism and fatphobia following her decision to perform at a re-election campaign event for President Joe Biden on Thursday.

Some questioned her decision to perform at the Biden event, given her support for Israel over its war in Gaza.

“Really disappointed in your stance in favor of genocide,” one commenter wrote on Instagram.

Conversely, conservative commentators shamed the Biden campaign for choosing the artist to perform amid allegations of body shaming and sexual harassment made against her by her backup dancers in a lawsuit filed last August.

Lizzo previously called the claims “scandalous” and “false.”

Lizzo also faced fatphobic comments and explained how they affected her following the release of her song “Rumors” in 2021.

“People say shit about me that doesn’t even make sense. It’s phobic, it’s racist and it’s hurtful,” the singer said in 2021. “If you don’t like my music, cool. If you don’t like my music, cool. If you don’t like my music, cool. If you don’t like my music, cool. If you don’t like my music, cool. I don’t like not the song “Rumors”, cool. But a lot of people don’t like me because of the way I look.

Representatives for Lizzo did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
