King Charles III reportedly lost his sense of taste while undergoing treatment for cancer.
The British monarch made the revelation on Monday during a visit to the Army Flying Museum in Middle Wallop, Hampshire, with her son Prince William, according to the Daily Mail and the UK Sun.
Media reports Charles spoke with British army veteran Aaron Mapplebeck, who opened up to the royal about losing his taste while receiving his own chemotherapy for testicular cancer .
Charles, 75, later reportedly said he too had suffered a “loss of taste” while undergoing treatment for his undisclosed type of cancer.
Buckingham Palace did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment, nor did it publicly confirm or deny the report.
Charles and William, 41, made a rare joint appearance at the museum, where the proud father officially named his son colonel in chief of the Army Air Corps.
“Let me just say what a great joy it is to be with you, even briefly, on this occasion, but it is also tinged with great sadness after 32 years of knowing you all, admiring your many activities and accomplishments throughout my tenure I was fortunate to serve as colonel in chief of the Army Air Corps,” Charles said during a speech to veterans and their families.
The monarch added that his eldest son is a “very good pilot, so that’s encouraging.”
Charles shared the remarks less than two weeks after returning to public duties on April 30 after taking time off for treatment.
The King and his wife, Queen Camilla, visited the Macmillan Cancer Center at University College Hospital to meet cancer patients and staff.
The royal family announced that Charles would return “to his public duties following a period of treatment and recovery following his recent cancer diagnosis” in an April 26 statement.
“Their Majesties remain deeply grateful for the many kindnesses and good wishes they have received from around the world throughout the joys and challenges of the past year,” they continued.
Buckingham Palace announced Charles’ cancer diagnosis after he underwent “a routine hospital procedure for benign prostatic enlargement” and a “separate area of concern was noted” in a statement in February.
“He thanks his medical team for their rapid intervention, made possible thanks to his recent hospital intervention. He remains completely positive about his treatment and looks forward to fully returning to public duties as soon as possible,” the statement continued.
The royal family has not yet revealed any additional information regarding Charles’ diagnosis or treatment plan.
Just over a month later, Kensington Palace revealed that William’s wife, Kate Middleton, had also been diagnosed with cancer after undergoing “major abdominal surgery” in January.
” The operation is a success. However, tests carried out after the operation revealed the presence of cancer,” she said in an Instagram video in March.
Since then, the Princess of Wales has stayed out of the public eye as she continues her recovery.
