Kansas City Chiefs WR Marquise Brown is knocked out in the first quarter

Wide receiver Marquise Brown left the Kansas City Chiefs’ preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first quarter with a shoulder injury Saturday at EverBank Stadium.

The Chiefs said Brown had a shoulder injury and was uncertain whether he would return, but Kansas City put his replacements in on the second series of the game, making it unlikely he would play again.

Brown caught a pass from Patrick Mahomes on the first play for an 11-yard gain, but immediately afterward he headed to the sideline to be examined by medical staff.

Brown was one of the Chiefs’ biggest free agent additions this offseason. The Chiefs expect Brown and first-round draft pick Xavier Worthy to improve their receiving game, which was a disappointment last season.

Last season with the Arizona Cardinals, Brown had 51 receptions for 574 yards and four touchdowns.
