Jamal Murray throws a heat pack and makes a money gesture while Michael Malone loses it to the referee as the frustrated Nuggets lose 2-0 to Anthony Edwards’ T-Wolves.

The Denver Nuggets are in big trouble.

The Minnesota Timberwolves stole Game 1 of the second round against the defending champions, thanks in large part to Anthony Edwards doing his best to impersonate Michael Jordan.

Game 2 presented the Nuggets’ chance to even the series, but Minnesota beat them badly.

The T-Wolves led 61-35 at halftime and finished the game 106-80 thanks to 27 points from Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Denver has been growing increasingly frustrated in the series and Jamal Murray let his emotions get the best of him during the first half blowout.

After what he thought was a missed call from the officials, the Nuggets guard threw a heat pack onto the court from the bench.

There has been no appeal for Murray, but he could be suspended for Game 3.

Journalist Keith Smith wrote on social media: “Jamal Murray should have either undergone a technical test or been sent off. You can’t throw shit on the ground. It’s really dangerous.

Former player turned ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins wrote: “It’s going to be interesting what the Nuggets look like in Game 3 without Murray…because he’s most likely suspended for starting this Heat Pack.” »

He also showed the referees the money sign early in the second quarter – something Rudy Gobert was recently fined $100,000 for.

Murray wasn’t the only member of the Nuggets to let his frustration get the better of him during the game.

Denver head coach Michael Malone chastised veteran official Marc Davis for the perceived lack of fouls committed against the Timberwolves on consecutive possessions in the first half.

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards says he’s ‘never jumped that high’ after hitting his head on edge of hoop on save block

Malone somehow managed to avoid a technical foul for his outburst and fans wanted to know why.

“I’ve seen head coaches get kicked out for less. Why isn’t Mike Malone getting kicked out?” someone wrote about

“Charging a ref + yelling in his face = No Tech. Staring at a player = Tech Fix that (expletive) @NBAOfficial,” another added.

“No tech on Malone after this is insane but players are getting tech to monitor a player after a dunk lmao,” said a third.

“How is Malone not ejected there?” asked another.

The Nuggets are completely out of sorts right now and Murray is the clearest example of that.

He’s been dealing with a calf injury lately, but only had 8 points on 3-of-18 shooting in Game 2.

Aaron Gordon led Denver with 20 points while Nikola Jokic had 16 points and 16 rebounds, but that barely made a dent on the Gobert-less Timberwolves, who missed the game due to the birth of his first child.

The Nuggets are struggling and have everything to do in Game 3 at Minnesota on Saturday.

Unfortunately for them, they could now be without suspended Murray.
