Early Sunday morning, Iran fired hundreds of drones, missiles and rockets at Israel in retaliation for the Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria.
With military assistance from allies including the United States, the United Kingdom, Jordan and France, Israel managed to intercept approximately 99 percent of incoming projectiles, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
The missiles appeared to target Israel’s Nevatim air base in the Negev desert, home to its fleet of F-35I stealth fighter jets. The Israeli variant of the American-made Lockheed Martin Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter is known as “Adir”, meaning “The Mighty” in Hebrew.
