If you’re in the mood for religious horror, good news: Sydney Sweeney’s new horror film Immaculate arrives on digital platforms this week, just three weeks after the film’s theatrical release.
Directed by Michael Mohan, who also directed Sweeney in the 2021 erotic thriller The Voyeurs, Immaculate follows a young nun named Cecilia (Sweeney) who is invited to join a convent in Italy that cares for sick nuns in their final days. There, Cecilia is shocked to learn that she is pregnant, despite the fact that she has never had sex. Eh! This reminds you a bit of another famous virgin who had immaculate conception.
Of course, there are not only miracles at the convent. In fact, they are mostly bloody and gory horrors. Immaculate received mixed reviews from critics, but it performed quite well at the box office, earning over $18.8 million worldwide, more than double its reported production budget of $9 million . No doubt Neon is hoping to make another change now that the film will be available for purchase online.
Here’s what you need to know about how to watch Immaculate online, and when to expect to see Immaculate on streaming services.
Immaculate digital release date of the film:
Immaculate will be released on premium video on demand, for purchase, on Tuesday, April 16, according to the film’s Amazon landing page.
Starting at midnight Eastern Time on April 16 (which is also 9 p.m. Pacific Time on April 15), the Immaculate The film will be available for purchase on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Vudu and more. The price may vary depending on the platform you use to purchase the movie, but on Amazon Prime, purchasing the movie will cost $19.99.
Immaculate will also be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on June 11, 2024.
Where to watch Immaculate in streaming :
Immaculate isn’t yet available for free on any of the subscription streaming services, and it’s unclear where the film will land. At present we expect to see Immaculate streaming on Hulu in the future. But that could change. Neon, the production company behind Immaculate, signed a multi-year deal with Hulu in 2017, but Hulu is expected to merge with Disney+ any day now. Does that mean you’ll see Immaculate on Disney+ before the end of 2024? It’s not yet clear.
When Immaculate stream on Hulu?
Maybe if the merger is delayed you will see Immaculate on Hulu later this year. Another Neon horror film, He lives inside, began streaming on Hulu about three months after opening in theaters. If Immaculate follows a similar release pattern, you will be able to see it on Hulu around the end of June 2024. On the other hand, another version of Neon, Ferraristill isn’t streaming on Hulu more than four months after its theatrical release — so it’s not a hard and fast rule.
In other words, this is all speculation. If you want to watch Immaculate home right away, you will be able to buy the film online from tomorrow.
