Popular Channel Seven journalist Nathan Templeton has tragically died.

The 44-year-old father was found near the Barwon River on Monday evening after suffering a medical episode while walking his dog.

Templeton had worked for the Seven Network for over 12 years and was the Melbourne correspondent for its morning show Sunrise.

Before joining Seven, he was a sports journalist at Ten News Melbourne.

He leaves behind two young children.

Templeton studied at Deakin University in Geelong, where he completed a Bachelor of Communications, majoring in Journalism.

He was part of Seven’s Olympic broadcast team in Tokyo and Rio as well as the 2018 Commonwealth Games, as well as the Australian Open and Australian Swimming Championships.

He also worked for the Geelong Football Club as a ground announcer for home matches at GMHBA Stadium.

His friends and colleagues paid him several tributes on social networks.

It is heartbreaking to learn of the passing of Nathan Templeton,” Ryan Phelan wrote.

“He was an incredibly talented and hard-working colleague, but I will cherish our conversations after Channel 7.

“Sending love to his young family.”

3AW football presenter Matt Granland said Templeton “was a kind, gentle soul taken too soon”.
