York 3.15 – Swingalong each way

SWINGALONG has yet to be seen this season, but the filly should be taken seriously on her return after a 207-day hiatus. The daughter of Showcasing showed smart form last season, winning a Group 3 over course and distance, to complement her win at 2 in the Lowther, meaning she won on both of her visits to the Knavesmire.

Coach Karl Burke has an embarrassment of riches in this squad, but his best hope could be this classy individual who appears to be saving his best for the Yorkshire venue. Clifford Lee takes over from this unexposed guy, and while she’ll have to take another step forward here, she’s on the trail that can see her take her game to the next level.

York 3.45 – Friendly soul

The Musidora is truly a race to get excited about, with entrants looking to attempt to claim their place in the upset for even bigger targets, including the Oaks at Epsom in just over two weeks’ time. FRIENDLY SOUL have no entry to the big one at Epsom as things stand, but all that could change by putting in an emphatic performance here.

Undefeated in both starts, the daughter of Kingman looked smart in her first start on turf during her seasonal bow at Newmarket recently, ultimately making the job of this Listed assignment easier. That represents deeper water, but she’s clearly a go-anywhere filly, and 10f at York should be absolutely perfect for her. Kieran Shoemark is in the saddle for Team Gosden, and the combination looks like a class act here.

York 4.15 – Fire Demon

FIRE DEMON has really been very progressive in recent months on all-timers, winning three of his last four starts, and looks to have major claims here for Andrew Balding’s team. A score of 93 requires more, but he has moved up a gear, and this return to the turf should pose no problem.

He hit the line strongly above 6f in his most recent missions, so with that in mind, a step back to 7f here seems tailor-made for him. The Balding yard is in fine form at the moment, and Oisin Murphy has been winning the winners, so it’s no exaggeration to say that there are some connections in form. This is a great flyer that should stay and has a touch of class – exactly what you want on the Knavesmire.
