A quiet, upscale Newport Beach neighborhood was rocked by a targeted home invasion early Tuesday morning, police confirmed.
According to preliminary information from a Newport Beach Police Department spokesperson, a resident called to report someone in their home – located in a gated community – around 4:45 a.m.

Moments later, the resident reported that someone had shot one of the intruders, police said. It was later confirmed during a brief press conference that it was the owner of the house who shot the suspects.
A total of four people lived in the house, including a minor, police said, later saying they were all evacuated safely and without injuries.
“The resident then reported two men (running) from the house,” the DPNB spokesperson told KTLA.

When officers arrived on scene, they saw an armed man with a gunshot wound lying on the ground outside the home.
He was transported to a local hospital, NB Police confirmed, but no information regarding his condition has been released.
Shortly afterward, police found another suspect in a bush across the street from the house; that suspect was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, law enforcement said.

Police later confirmed that the home invasion was a targeted incident and that the suspects and the occupants of the home knew each other, but the nature of the relationship was not disclosed.
No one inside the home was injured, and Newport Beach Police Department officials said in A press release as of late Tuesday morning, there are no outstanding suspects.
No information identifying the two suspects involved in the home invasion was immediately released.
All lanes of Newport Coast Drive, between Pelican Hill Road North and Vista Ridge, were closed until further notice due to the investigation, police said. X, formerly Twitter.
Newport Beach Police are actively investigating the incident.
