Handsome Italian model says he was fired from his job hosting the Met Gala after his beauty overshadowed Kylie Jenner at last year’s ceremony

An Italian model has revealed he was fired from his job at this year’s Met Gala because his rugged good looks overshadowed stars including Kylie Jenner.

Eugenio Casnighi, 26, who worked as a host for the museum’s two previous events, indicated in a new TikTok video that he was not invited to Monday’s party by organizers after his good looks were the subject of the 2023 gala.

“I just got kicked out of the Met Gala,” Casnighi’s video begins, before showing a photo of him standing next to Kylie Jenner at the 2023 gala.

‘Remember me?’ he asks, pointing to the photo.

The clip then shows a flashback to last year’s event, hosted by Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour, where Emma Chamberlain interviewed Blackpink’s Jennie Kim.

Casnighi stands in the background and does his job, but the person recording the interview was apparently blinded by his good looks.

The camera pans away from Chamberlain and Kim and focuses on Casnighi’s face.

It was a clip that went viral with text appearing on screen that read: “I’m trying to focus on Emma interviewing Jennie but…”

Casnighi, who worked for the Met Gala as a model and greeter for 2022 and 2023, said he hadn’t been able to get all the attention before because he was under an NDA.

“It’s pretty funny,” the model said, “they fired me so I can say whatever I want now.”

Casnighi revealed he was meant to be back this year – but was shocked to learn earlier he was not welcome, despite being confirmed a month ago.

Event organizers said Casnighi was responsible for all the attention.

“They blamed me,” the model said. “They said ‘you talked about yourself, so we don’t want to work with you anymore.’

“They let me know today that they cut me off,” he said. “They fired me because I went viral last year.”

Casnighi said he has emails and messages that corroborate his claims.

Speaking to DailyMail.com on Saturday after posting the video, Casnighi lifted the lid on what it was like to be part of the coveted event.

He revealed that at the last two Met Galas, a mysterious celebrity “got into trouble because she started smoking in the tent in front of the stairs.”

“It’s not allowed,” Casnighi explained. “But this person didn’t care. They are very famous, so they can do whatever they want,” he added, refusing to reveal who the celebrity was.

The Italian model said organizers asked the celebrity to stop smoking.

In response, Casnighi said the celebrity retorted, “No, what are you going to do about it?”

From his experience working the event, Casnighi found everyone to be nice.

While he wouldn’t say any of the guests “were rude to him,” he revealed that when celebrities first arrive, they don’t really know who is working on the event and who is attending.

“I don’t wear a badge, so at first they don’t know if I’m an employee. And when I realize I’m working there… some people completely change,” he said.

“They kind of disappear. They stop talking to me and start talking to the actual guests.

Referring to last year’s event, he said he expected to work with Kylie Jenner all night as he had been asked to do, with tasks including providing the reality star “everything she needed” – but he feels let down by the decision to pull him off the mat, with just two days’ notice.

“It’s funny because the Met Gala and the company that I’m not going to mention… want models to work the red carpet,” he told his fans on TikTok.

“They want people to stand out. They literally told me “we chose you because we love you more than the others”.

“But when people took pictures of the real celebrity, like Kylie Jenner and she was next to her, of course I ended up in the picture.”

Jenner and her sister Kim Kardashian’s changing appearances over the years have sparked speculation that they reconstructed their faces and bodies through plastic surgery.

Casnighi told DailyMail.com that he met Jenner at a party in Brooklyn after the event and that she “might have done a little more” work.

“I was a guest there,” Casnighi said of the party. “In this case, I was speaking to him as a guest. It was very different. I didn’t work for her.

“I have to say, when I first met her at the Met Gala last year…she was stunning.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a natural look, but she never denied that she did her job.”

Casnighi added that he “supports” surgery “if you feel better about yourself.”

“I still think she’s beautiful,” he said of Jenner.

In an exclusive interview with the mailonline, Casnighi revealed that a celebrity, who he declined to name, attempted to smoke a cigarette inside the Met Gala tent.

Viewers of her online update quickly rushed to the idol’s defense.

“They can’t handle your beauty going viral. This will DEFINITELY happen again,” one TikTok user exclaimed.

One person was baffled by the organizers’ frustration and remarked: “I don’t understand how this isn’t a good thing?” If you draw attention to the event, doesn’t that benefit the company?

“They hate you because you look perfect,” wrote another.

“Now let’s manifest that you are invited as a GUEST of a designer,” one user said.

At the end of the video, Casnighi said he would continue to shed light on his firing.

“I can say a lot more, because legally I can say whatever I want now.”
