McDonald surprised everyone: The expert dismissed Collin Morikawa (10-1), whose odds are too low to be supported in such a deep and talented field. Morikawa finished T-4 at the Scottish Open last weekend, but he has not won any of his 17 tournaments this season. The 27-year-old has won just one of his 61 tournaments since the start of the 2021-22 PGA Tour season, which makes his 10-1 odds with such a deep field of majors rather surprising.
Morikawa won the Open Championship in 2021, but he has since missed the cut in each of his last two Open Championship events. Morikawa is fourth in the FedEx Cup standings, with seven top-10s in 17 events. He isn’t playing terrible golf, but his inability to come away with a win in even some of the lesser PGA Tour events doesn’t give McDonald much confidence that Morikawa can win the 2024 Open Championship at 10-1 odds. On the other hand, McDonald values Brooks Koepka at 25-to-1. The 34-year-old hasn’t finished strong in major events this season, but fans know he has the potential to step up his game in the spotlight.

He has never competed at Royal Troon, but he has finished in the top 10 at The Open Championship at St. Andrew’s in 2015 (T10), Royal Birkdale in 2017 (T6), Royal Portrush in 2019 (T4) and Royal St. George’s in 2021 (T6).
